St. Petersburg College is one of the first regionally accredited colleges in the United States to offer a 2-year associate in science degree and a 1-year professional certificate program in Crime Scene Technology (CST). The Crime Scene Technology program is an extensive program featuring established investigative techniques and present day technology. Students in this program will become competent in locating, preserving, developing, collecting, analyzing, and presenting physical evidence. Courses are offered online and on campus.

Crime Scene Technology A.S. degree – This program will prepare students for employment in the field of criminalistics, with a specialty in Crime Scene Technology. With this degree, graduates can serve as – but are not limited to – crime scene technicians, crime scene photographers, fingerprint classification specialists, crime lab assistants, investigators/consultants, juvenile assessment workers, latent print examiners/trainees, fire inspectors/investigators, forensic science specialists, property and evidence personnel, and crime scene unit supervisors. |

Crime Scene Technology Certificate – This certificate program is designed to prepare a crime scene technician who will be able to locate, identify, process and preserve the crime scene. They will also testify in court as to their findings. These courses will apply toward the A.S. degree in Crime Scene Technology. Crime Scene Technicians are employed by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, state attorney offices, public defender offices, medical examiner offices, law firms and private industry.
