AAP0605 You’re On the Air! Voice-over Techniques
(A one-time, two-hour program)

This course focuses on how to become employed doing professional voice-over work. It includes information on the structure of advertising, how to make a demo tape, the kinds of voices in demand, and how to find work in a given market. Students will record a simulated voice-over during class, complete w/background music.

Voice-overs are hot today! You don’t have to be an actor to get voice-over work, but it certainly doesn’t hurt! With such notable talent as James Earl Jones, Linda Hunt, and Donald Sutherland lending their voices to commercials, films, and videos, one would think that it would be next to impossible to break into this field. Not so! In this class, you’ll learn about an exciting new way to get around the competition and actually turn voice-overs into a thriving full or part-time business!

Dan Levine, a well-known commercial producer and Tony Award-nominated Broadway composer, will discuss voice-over technique in a recorded portion of the class. Trish Basanyi, a successful voice-over artist (Pepsi, Wal-Mart, Verizon), will introduce students to the overall voice-over business and talk about numerous opportunities, income potential, and the all-important demo and how to have it produced. You’ll step up to the microphone to do some practice recording, and, best of all, hear the results! $25
