For reasons of safety, SPC will provide handguns for attendees to use. There are no standards set forth in either HR218 or the FDLE rules pertaining to the make, caliber, or type of weapon used for qualification.
Use of personal weapons will be allowed only with the approval of the rangemaster, and his decision will be final.

SPC HR 218 Course FAQ What does the course involve? Shooters will attend a single four hour class. During the class, they will have an opportunity to qualify on the FDLE course. How does the course run? The firearms course is fairly simple. Shooters fire a total of forty rounds, on one target. The distances range from 2 yards to 15 yards, with varying time limits. You must score 32 hits in order to qualify. What should I bring? Each student must bring a baseball hat. SPC will provide firearms, ammunition, and holsters, along with hearing and eye protection. Students may bring their own, if they prefer. May I bring my own gun? Yes, but it must have at least three reloaders (speedloaders or magazines), and a proper holster. The decision to allow privately owned firearms rests entirely with the lead instructor. Will SPC provide ammunition? Each student will be provided with appropriate ammunition, so long as they use .38 caliber, 9 millimeter, .40 caliber or .45 caliber. Any other ammunition must be provided by the student. What guns will the school provide? Students have a choice of .38 caliber revolvers, or 9 millimeter Glocks. Will I get my qualification card when I attend? If you pass the course, SPC will mail your qualification card within three days of completion. Click here for FDLE's frequently asked questions
