 Computer Technology Internship Program

What is an Internship?
An internship is a temporary learning experience offered by a business or other organization to a student to provide practical work experience, which is applicable to the student’s major or career. It is a mutually beneficial relationship for students and employers that may lead to employment, but it is not a guarantee of a full- or part-time job.

How does it work?
The Computer Technology Internship Program (CTIP) at St. Petersburg College engages the resources of computer technology faculty, staff, students and employers to prepare students for gratifying computer technology careers. St. Petersburg College does not investigate jobs, job sites, job conditions, student or employer backgrounds, or act as an employment agency. CTIP provides a clearinghouse for student and employer internship opportunities. All that is required of the employer is the completion of the Job Posting Form available by contacting Larry Goldsmith at
goldsmith.larry@spcollege.edu.

How do I start an internship?
Mail an Internship Posting Form to: Larry Goldsmith, St. Petersburg College, EpiCenter, P.O. Box 13489, St. Petersburg, FL 33733, or contact him at (727) 341-3032.

The internship coordinator will supply you with student applications.

Follow all the procedures and care you would normally take before hiring any employee or inviting any individual onto the worksite.

  • Interview and select the best candidate(s).
  • Make students aware of all workplace rules, standards, and practices whether written or implied.
  • Provide a reasonable and flexible work schedule to assist students in maintaining their coursework.
  • Identify a company mentor to supervise and develop the students’ work processes and production, providing explanation, clarification and feedback.
  • Provide feedback on how the placement is going.

Link to our student Internship site to see what is required of the students who participate.
