POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Curriculum Designer, NTPI

DEPARTMENT: NTPI SITE: AllState

SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P - GRADE: A

BASIC FUNCTION:

Responsible for curriculum and multimedia design and development for a program which includes the design of graphics, audiovisual presentations, textbooks, manuals and instructional aids as well as course and project management involvement. Responsible for driving course development and maintenance process forward as well as assisting SMEs in putting course materials together.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

v      Assist project coordinator in contracting subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop courses.

v      Assist project coordinator in regulating the Institutes relationships with SMEs and monitor their contracted efforts.

v      Work with SMEs in developing course outlines and preparing course content.

v      Develop training content based on SMEs submitted material.

v      Edit content and format in the NTPI style, conforming to government contract requirements.

v      Build CD-ROM presentations for traditional style course material, meetings, and seminars.

v      Observes pilot courses and evaluates program for improvement and revision.

v      Design Internet-based training documents for WWW delivery.

v      Utilize current and cutting-edge technology to create new or adapt current and web based training to computer-based delivery methods.

v      Take project leadership as assigned in driving the development of new courses and curriculum, using NTPI resources to deliver material that meets the slated training objectives.

v      Administer all course content forms (text, simulations, multimedia) development towards stated educational goals.

v      Assist project coordinators in delivering course materials to the classroom environment.

v      Build a broad base of knowledge with respect to national homeland defense, terrorism, WMD, and first responder duties in order to better facilitate curriculum design projects.

v      Achieve or maintain qualification to deliver course as classroom instructor.

v      Achieve or maintain knowledge in current NTPI-related topics as necessary.

v      Execute all aspects of traditional course development as assigned.

v      Performs related duties as required.

v      Ability to travel as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in instructional system design, adult education, curriculum planning or related field. Master's degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Three (3) years experience in curriculum design or a related field.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of computer information systems and multimedia development. Knowledge of desk top publishing. Knowledge of the process involved in curriculum design and development. A complete understanding of the Instructional System Design. Knowledge of the ADDIE system of ISD especially helpful. Ability to perform curriculum design. Ability to write clear and concise text. Ability to perform database programming. Ability to work with faculty and staff in developing curriculum. Excellent computer skills required. Written and verbal communications skills. Skill in analyzing information from various media and incorporating the data into presentations. Complete understanding of English grammar, context, standard editorial markings and an ability to edit text for errors in syntax, spelling, etc. skill in using Frame Maker and PowerPoint software.
