POSITION DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT: Institutional
Advancement SITE: DO
SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P - GRADE: E
BASIC FUNCTION:
Directs, plans, supervises
and implements programs of public information, media relations, marketing and
recruiting, advertising, printing, and internal/external communications for the
College.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops,
supervises and implements short and long range plans for institutional
advancement, primarily through efforts in the area of public relations,
marketing, and institutional aid.
Directs
and coordinates media relations.
Develops
and oversees implementation of annual marketing plan initiatives.
Provides
management supervision to those individuals whose responsibilities fall in the
above areas, and coordinates their activities into a unified program consistent
with the mission of the SPC.
Deals
with Board of Trustees relating to matters before the Board.
Manages
college graphics and printing services operations.
Prepares
and manages budgets for areas of responsibility.
Maintains
awareness of current trends and methods for successful institutional
advancement programs.
Recommends strategies for coordinating activities of other college departments and sites to support advancement efforts.
Coordinates communications efforts with the
office of Enrollment Management.
Articulates
institutional advancement needs to the College and the community.
Oversees
content and production of college weekly newsletter.
Supervises,
directs and evaluates personnel under immediate supervision.
Performs
related duties as required.
This
is a cabinet level position which has college wide
management responsibilities.
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree to include
specialized course work in journalism, mass communications and English.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Five (5) years experience
in journalism, public relations, copyrighting and/or other mass communications
experience in higher education.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of news media
functions and operations. Knowledge of graphics, printing operations and video
production. Knowledge of modern practices in public relations, marketing and
recruitment techniques. Knowledge of management practices. Knowledge of grammar,
spelling and sentence structure. Ability to plan and organize an institutional
advancement program. Supervisory skills. Verbal and written communications
skills. Interpersonal communications skills.
