POSITION DESCRIPTION

GRADE:
BASIC FUNCTION:
Provides accounting,
auditing and financial controls relating to grants, direct support
organizations (DSO), and other programs and their respective funding sources.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v
Performs
grant, DSO and other program administration by establishing supporting records,
reporting procedures and timetables. Performs fiscal year opening and closing
activities.
v
Works
closely with Grants Accountant and program or project managers to establish
budgeting and procedural matters.
v
Prepares
and files all reports required of an assigned grant or program inclusive of documented
reimbursement requests.
v
Monitors
DSO, grants or program activities to assure compliance with policies for
expenditures. Approves expenditures for accounting accuracy, adequate support
and program relevance.
v
Prepares
ledger entries to maintain grant or program activity accounts.
v
Compiles
DSO activity monthly from transaction data entry through financial statement
preparation.
v
Develops
and maintains supporting schedules for investment earnings of gains, losses and
interest allocation. Prepares year-end schedule as requested by DSO independent
auditor.
v
Performs
related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in
Accounting or in the business field.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Three (3) years experience in
the accounting or auditing field. Experience in fund accounting is preferred.
The college requires a strong background in accounting for multiple entity
activities.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of computerized
accounting practices and procedures. Knowledge of grant accounting and of fund
accounting. Knowledge of auditing practices. Knowledge of Word and Excel or
Lotus software. Ability to analyze and maintain complex computerized accounting
records. Ability to organizer complex accounting work. Ability to prepare
accounting reports. Ability to do work independently without close supervision.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with staff and outside agencies.
Oral and written communications skills. Mathematical and analytical skills.
Computer and calculator skills. Possession of a high degree of accuracy.
