APOLLO AWARD
The Apollo Award, given each year since 1966, is the highest honor an SPC associate degree recipient can achieve. Presented by the St. Petersburg College Alumni Association, winners are chosen for their leadership, scholastic standing, community service, honors and awards.
Melinda Thackrah was named the 2009 Apollo Award winner at the May 9 graduation ceremony at Tropicana Field. Watch her acceptance speech below.

The winner receives:
- Scholarship check for $1,000
- Lifetime membership in the SPC Alumni Association
- One-year honorary appointment to the SPC Alumni Association Board of Directors
His/her name is inscribed on a permanent trophy at the college and he/she joins a list of previous recipients dating back to 1966.
