Define your skills
On
your printed copy of the Personality Style Profile, note the section labeled "Skills." This is where you
will list your strongest work-related skills - tasks that you are
most capable of performing (either currently or with additional schooling or
training) in a work situation.
To help you identify your work-related skills, you
will review two websites that each contain a list of
common work-related skills:
O*NET
Online Skills Search
iseek Skills Assessment
Print a copy of this page and check off [Ö]
each step as it is completed.
Directions:
-
[ ] Visit the two websites listed above.
At each website, review the list of skills presented. Identify
those skills that you believe are your strongest skills (or those
that you wish to develop in the near future). List your
choices on a separate sheet of paper.
Note: These
two websites also identify occupations related to each skill
presented. At this point in the program, it is not necessary
that you identify occupations related to your skills. This
will be accomplished later in the program.
-
[ ] After you have reviewed both lists of skills
above, select up to six
skills that you believe are your best skills (or skills that you
would like to
develop in the future) and list them (one per line) on your
Personality Style Profile, under the Skills section. Do not list any
skills that you would not be willing to use in a work situation.
Do NOT list job titles!
-
[ ] If you are aware of any
work-related skills that were not identified from the use of the above
two websites, then consider listing them on your Personality Style Profile.
List only your strongest skills and no more than 6 skills.
After completing all steps above, please move on to
defining your values.
