POSITION TITLE: Assistant Director, National Terrorism Preparedness Institute

BASIC FUNCTION:

Assists in planning, organizing, leading, managing and directing all activities of the National Terrorism Preparedness Institute.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists the Director of the National Terrorism Preparedness Institute and acts in absence of Director.
• Develops and maintains procedures to support daily operations and departmental activities.
• Acts as a liaison with other college staff, as well as with community organizations.
• Assists the Director with personnel matters; such as hiring recommendations, staff training, performance evaluation, and College human resource policies. Provides input in the handling of discipline and grievance issues.
• Assists the Director in implementing program controls and evaluation systems.
• Assists the Director in coordinating, reviewing, and editing internal and external communications.
• Prepares reports and statistical studies related to the operations and services of the department.
• Ensures integration of information and technology systems into the training development process. Directs the information security program.
• Assists in developing staff morale and esprit through performance discussions, problem resolution and strong leadership.
• Implements equipment accountability and maintenance programs.
• Performs related duties as required.

Master's degree in related field required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of three(3) years leadership and management experience required. First responder, emergency management, or related military experience (NBC, anti-terrorism, or force protection) preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of the practices and procedures involved in emergency management with emphasis on the terrorism threat and domestic preparedness. Knowledge of techniques involved in training first responders. Ability to work with community, state, and federal agencies. Ability to design and implement specialized weapons of mass destruction training programs. Knowledge of instructional technology and instructional design systems. Ability to write grants and manage grant programs. Ability to coordinate research and incorporate the results into training programs. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
