POSITION DESCRIPTION

GRADE:
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for the
coordination and development of facilities planning activities including
documents and working with design professionals and staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v
Plans
and develops documents related to education plant surveys, Capital Improvement
Program, SBE Bonds, CO & DS, Project Priority List, Unit Plan, FPIS and
related.
v
Assists
in the selection and contract development for design professionals and
construction managers at risk. Coordinates and distributes information to the
design professionals.
v
Coordinates
and maintains documents for applications for operating costs for new facilities
and the preparation of educational specifications for construction projects.
v
Coordinates
construction project expenditures with other staff.
v
Coordinates
the planning and acts as liaison with architects and users to plan and prepare
project program, initial construction budget and educational specifications.
v
Develops
facilities planning and budget reports and documents for use by the Presidents
Cabinet and others. Develops project budgets and schedules PECO budget
spreadsheets.
v
Assists
in approving payments to professionals at the schematic and design development
levels. Assists with fee calculations and review and approval of guaranteed
maximum prices.
v
Processes
pay requests and project closeouts and assists in questions regarding project
paperwork issues.
v
Supervises
work of staff as assigned.
v
Assists
the Director in special projects, meetings, presentations and related research.
v Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Three (3) years experience
in the field related to facilities planning including experience in budget
development and maintenance.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of the principles
and practices involved in facilities planning, maintenance and construction.
Knowledge of the budgeting and PECO funding process. Knowledge of State
requirements relating to facilities planning and construction. Knowledge of the
procedures and laws relating to contract processing. Knowledge of the
computerized applications relating to the maintenance of facilities planning
documents. Knowledge of mathematics used in budgeting. Ability to read and
interpret construction plans. Ability to develop and maintain budgets and
documents relating to facilities construction. Ability to communicate verbally
and in written form. Skill in the operation of a computer
