POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Producer, NTPI

DEPARTMENT: National Terrorism Preparedness Institute         SITE: DO

SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P             GRADE: B

BASIC FUNCTION:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

v      Produces and directs video projects in a team environment.

v      Researches, writes and visualizes scripts using faculty, administrators, technologists, and subject matter experts as resources.

v      Participates in logistical requirements of travel arrangements of crew and gear.

v      Produces, records, and edits audio and video elements as required.

v      Performs post-production audio and video editing in both linear and non-linear formats, including creation of computer graphics components.

v      Performs studio production activities including lighting, camera operation, floor direction, audio and technical direction.

v      Works cooperatively with instructional technologists to incorporate video into distance-learning projects.

v      Mentors and instructs junior personnel on video production techniques, including field and studio production, and effective use of the edit suite.

v      Participates in the planning of editing and production facilities.

v      Creates scripts, storyboards and logs.

v      Schedules and coordinates TV studio and remote shooting activities.

v      Performs related work as assigned.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

B.A. or B.S. degree in communications or related field and specialized professional training.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Three to five years field experience doing television production and post-production work in a commercial broadcasting, cable production unit, industrial, business or educational setting. Examples of actual work shown in a demonstration product essential. Editing experience must be on Affinity, AVID, SONY or other professional level non-linear unit(s).

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of the procedures and policies involved in the specific project area of assignment, including WMD response practices and procedures. Knowledge of the process involved in developing and implementing a grant project. Ability to work with students and faculty. Ability to develop and implement project goals and objectives. Ability to relate to the participants of the particular project and provide advice concerning their progress in the project. Ability to instruct participants in the project subjects. Supervisory Skills. Written and verbal communication skills. Computer skills.
