POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: C-Print Captionist
DEPARTMENT: Offices of Services for Students with Disabilities SITE: Various
SALARY SCHEDULE: Career GRADE: 4
BASIC FUNCTION:
Provides captioning services for students, faculty, staff and administrators to include regular classes, laboratories and curricular/extracurricular activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
AA degree. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Completion of required C-Print training program.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
One (1) year experience as a transcriptionist or note taker. Prefer C-Print experience in an educational setting.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Current knowledge of Deaf culture information and resources. Knowledge and abilities in phonetics. Knowledge of computer operations and word processing. Ability to read/hear, understand, process and communicate college level academic information. Ability to perform word processing duties at a speed of 55 words per minute or faster. Ability to perform internet research. Ability to understand and summarize information while typing. Ability to work with students, faculty, staff and administrators to facilitate communication between persons who are deaf or hard of hearing and persons who are hearing. Sign language communications skills.
