POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Business Development Officer – Collaborative Labs
DEPARTMENT: Academic & Student Affairs SITE: Epicenter
SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P - GRADE: D
BASIC FUNCTION:
Markets services of the collaborative labs to local, regional, national, and international businesses. Prepare proposals and contracts. Meets established sales quotas. Monitors profitability of the labs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Markets the Collaborative Labs to outside businesses and organizations, local/regional/national consulting firms, and EpiCenter partners.
Creates business that results in revenue that will break even in less than 1.5 years.
Creates proposals and contracts.
Creates and maintains relationships within the business community that leads to business for the collaborative lab also creating a positive, credible and professional image of the collaborative labs in the business community.
Works with the director to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan for the center. .
Makes presentations to business groups on services of the collaborative lab. .
Monitors the collaborative lab to ensure compliance with college policies and procedures.
Implements all aspects of the collaborative labs' business plan.
Assists the director with budget management activities.
Supports the delivery of collaborative events.
Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree in a business-related field preferred. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Five (5) years successful experience developing marketing training or other business services.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to generate appointments using cold or warm leads; ability to sell complex, intangible services; ability to create and maintain a trusting relationship among internal and external clients and prospects; ability to guide group discussions and facilitate group processes; knowledge of business planning, visioning and strategy formation models and techniques; general knowledge of components of businesses and how they operate (operations, marketing, sales, administration, finance, technology).
