POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION TITLE: Emergency Medical Services Clinical/Laboratory Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Emergency Medical Services SITE: HEC

SALARY SCHEDULE: Administrative & Professional - GRADE: A

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

Assists EMT and Paramedic students to achieve their EMS clinical and lab objectives at clinical sites and college laboratories. Assists all health related programs with contractual arrangements for clinical affiliations.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists EMT and Paramedic students on a group basis, in a laboratory or with clinical site visits.
  • Coordinates and maintains laboratory and media equipment to meet instructional requirements. Utilizes audiovisuals, periodicals, manikins, BLS/ALS equipment, etc.
  • Sets up and monitors laboratory areas for clinical laboratory assignments.
  • Assists professional faculty in program administration and learning materials such as tutoring, testing. 
  • Relieves professional faculty in classroom as needed.
  • Assists students in practicing skills.
  • Relieves professional faculty in classroom as needed.
  • Liaison between Provost, Program Directors/Deans, and the college legal department in regards to clinical affiliation agreements.
  • Solicits, prepares, tracks and maintains all clinical affiliation agreements between the EMS program and all clinical affiliates in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate timely return of affiliation agreements involving changes in order to further the College’s legal department’s review, acceptance or proposed further changes.
  • Sets up and monitors laboratory for clinical laboratory assignments. 
  • Performs daily preventive maintenance on equipment according to manufacturer recommendations. 
  • Maintains all aspects of the inventory in each lab, including but not limited to: ordering and receiving of supplies; inventory control and maintenance of inventory.
  • Prepares various reports, maintains records files and logs. 
  • Performs related duties as required.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Florida licensure as EMT (minimum). BLS, EVOC certification required. CPR, ITLS Instructor preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Five (5) years experience in pre-hospital clinical practice as a Paramedic and/or equivalent of two (2) years academic experience as EMT/Paramedic Instructor. One (1) year of experience negotiating contracts.

 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Knowledge of the practices and procedures involved in the field of emergency medical services. Oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of sentence structure. Knowledge of word usage. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Skill in reading comprehension. Skill in proofreading. Interpersonal skills. Computer skills including Word, Excel, Access, Angel and email programs. Clinical instructional skills. Possession of a Class D Florida Driver's License with an E endorsement. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License with successful completion of an EVOC course required.
