POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Director, Planned Giving

DEPARTMENT: St. Petersburg College Foundation, Inc. (Resource Development) SITE: EpiCenter

SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P        GRADE: D

BASIC FUNCTION:

Develop and manage the Foundation’s program to identify and cultivate planned giving prospects, secure planned gift commitments and manage relationships with existing planned gift donors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establishes aggressive revenue goals and expense projections for Planned Giving programs and develops and implement strategies — including a prospect identification program —  to meet them.
• Secures donations planned gifts (bequests, life insurance, gift annuities, retirement plan assets,  charitable remainder trusts, and other forms of planned giving) in support of the college and its programs.
• Provides stewardship of donor gift plans.
• Cultivates and maintains relationships with legal and financial advisors.
• Works as team player with other members of the Foundation staff in applying planned giving knowledge, expertise and communication skills to ongoing efforts of the entire Foundation.
• Travel throughout region as well as some evening/weekend working hours.
• Performs public speaking engagements representing the Foundation, as called upon to do so.
• Helps with the development of marketing materials for the Planned Giving efforts of the Foundation.
• Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in related field. Master’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Four (4) years comparable work experience that includes: track record of success in cultivating/securing planned gift commitments; and knowledge and understanding of the principles, processes and practices of fundraising.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of fund-raising techniques in a college setting. Ability to meet and deal with prospective donors – alumni/non-alumni, individual/corporate, staff/civic organizations - in an effective manner. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Excellent presentation skills, both one-on-one and in group settings. Ability to successfully manage multiple projects. Skill in writing and the use of a personal computer. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel independently.
