POSITION TITLE: Director, eCampus, Web &
Instructional Technology
DEPARTMENT: Web & Instructional Technology
SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P GRADE:
E
BASIC FUNCTION:
Coordinates cutting-edge online instruction and services,
providing instructional technology training, instructional design assistance,
course delivery support and web development college-wide.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v
Coordinates eCampus operations on
all sites.
v
Develops goals and long-range strategies
for online instruction and services.
v
Identifies new markets and market
niches for online instruction and services.
v
Engages in marketing and otherwise
promotes growth of online learning and services to meet and expand demand
congruent with the institutional mission.
v
Initiates research, evaluation,
demonstration and recommendation of emerging technologies and methods in
software and hardware.
v
Facilitates instructional
improvement by managing teams of faculty and staff for designing, developing
and implementing prototypical projects.
v
Surveys and benchmarks "best
practices" in online services and instruction and proposes recommendations
for improvement based on such best practices.
v
Supervises the training of faculty
in instructional technologies.
v
Leads the development of world-class
web-enhanced, blended, and online courses.
v
Monitors and promotes activity that
supports evaluation and quality improvement in online courses and programs.
v
Provides the leadership in
selecting, training, critiquing and making recommendations for enhancing the
College’s learning management system software.
v
Coordinates the review of, and
develops recommendations for, policies, procedures and practices related to the
Web and online instruction.
v
Coordinates the procurement, development,
maintenance, and quality assurance of a college-wide web content management system.
v
Analyzes web development needs and
works with technical, artistic, and editorial staff of the college to develop applications.
v
Informs the College community of
technological innovations and the potential for using such innovations to meet
College goals.
v
Coordinates and directs the
professional development of web and instructional technology staff.
v
Exhibits knowledge of technology usage;
contributes heavily to college-wide technology decisions via participation in
the Technology Oversight Group.
v
Coordinates with Video Services on
video projects, including planning with faculty, shooting, and editing and
plans for best use of production facilities and equipment.
v
Serves as designated representative
of the college for Florida Distance Learning Consortium and related committees.
v
Develops and implements department
budgets.
v
Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology or related
area. Master’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Five (5) years experience in instructional technology
implementation and development.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of practices and procedures involved in online
instruction and services. Knowledge of college
technology development goals, policies and expectations. Ability to establish
and maintain collaborative relationships with administrators, internally and
externally. Ability to maintain good working relationships with students,
faculty and staff. Facility with computers and various platforms. Verbal and
written communications skills. Office management and supervisory skills.
