POSITION DESCRIPTION  

POSITION TITLE:  DIRECTOR, HONORS COLLEGE      

DEPARTMENT: A&SA                                    SITE: Various

SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P                             GRADE: D

BASIC FUNCTION:

Develops, designs, and implements an Honors College/honors program college-wide, both lower and upper divisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Develops, designs, and implements an Honors College/honors program college-wide.  

·         Develops, prepares, and updates Honors College/honors program materials and evaluation standards.

·         Communicates with the provost/assistant provosts, deans, program directors and faculty regarding program policies, and procedures.

·         Coordinates honors class offerings schedule (in-class, blended and online) with program administrators.

·         Works with honors faculty and potential honors faculty on development of honors options for students.

·         Develops Honors College/Program instructional and methodological materials for the faculty, advisors/counselors, and students.

·         Advises honors students in program planning, course selection, and career guidance.

·         Develops and enhances the honors students monitoring  and communication systems (Database, Angel Commons).

·         Develops the Honors College mentoring and advising systems.

·         Organizes and coordinates college-wide honors events including research conferences, symposia, workshops, etc.

·         Develops and supervises the Honors College service-learning program.

·         Promotes honors education throughout the college and community; markets and recruits students into the Honors College/honors program.

·         Develops Honors College scholarship program.

·         Develops relationships with honors university programs nation, region and state-wide to enhance honors students transfer opportunities.

·         Oversees equipment\materials and resources utilized within the program.

·         Prepares and administers the departmental budgets.

·         Interacts with professional groups on behalf of the college.

·         Report to Academic Senior Vice-President of the College regarding all areas of the program including budget matters.

·         Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Four (4) years experience in education management and administration of higher education level or equivalent experience in related fields. Experience in Honors education is preferable. Experience in marketing special programs.

Knowledge of the curriculum development process. Written and oral communication skills. Organizational and interpersonal skills. Computer skills. Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the community. Demonstrated leadership ability.
