POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION TITLE: Manager, PeopleSoft Student System Development (Functional Business Analyst)

 

 

DEPARTMENT: Academic & Student Affairs                                             SITE: EPI/DO

 

 

SALARY SCHEDULE: Technical                                                         GRADE: T-4

 

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

 

Responsible for the Coordination, management, planning, and continuing development of a segment of the college’s student system support which may include one or more of the following functional business processes: admissions, financial aid, registration, student financials, course and faculty management, student and faculty self-service, advisement and other functional areas that provide support to students and staff. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provides leadership and direction that enables the college to maintain, improve and develop new system functionalities.
  • Serves as liaison to the AIS System Development Team (Manager, New Systems Development)
  • Enhances SPC’s ability to provide quality student support services that optimize the use of technology within the educational area.
  • Serves as primary liaison between functional end users and the technical support staff.
  • Writes queries to extract data using Oracle/PeopleSoft query tools and Structured Query Language (SQL) applications.
  • Coordinates ongoing communication and planning with key functional staff and technical support.
  • Coordinates the application and testing of software bundles, minor and major system upgrades.
  • Engages in the appropriate testing of computer system applications.
  • Manages issues and resources as related to the support of the SPC Student System
  • Provides status reports at meetings such as Academic & Student Affairs Council, Provost’s Council, and President’s Cabinet.
  • Performs problem analysis, maintenance and support of technology solutions.
  • Provides input into the business practices of functional units as required.
  • Develops online training materials and documentation for functional users.
  • Understands SPC business and applies it to the technical tasks.
  • Participates in the development of user and operational documentation.
  • Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (Master’s preferred)

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Three (3) years experience in coordination of programs at the post-secondary level. Experience supporting users of the PeopleSoft Student Administration System.  Business Analyst or Programming experience using PeopleSoft query/SQL preferred. 

 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  

Knowledge of Student Affairs/Services best practices.  Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to effectively communicate with the Information Technology staff to resolve technical problems. Ability to work with students, faculty and administrators in program development. Verbal and written communications skills. Ability to plan and organize. Management and supervisory skills. Ability to document.  Ability to reason logically.  Ability to adjust to change and be innovative.
