President, Academic & Student Affairs

BASIC FUNCTION:
Plans, organizes, staffs, directs
and controls all phases of the district academic and student affairs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recommends hiring, trains, evaluates, and
directs all personnel under immediate supervision.

Member of Critical Incident Management Team
to coordinate academic and student issues.

Administers the development and
implementation of curricula, courses, and programs for the college.
-
Develops and implements college policies,
procedures, instructional/curricula innovations, educational research, and
developmental education.
-
Coordinates student activities college-wide
and develops the student activities budget.
-
Oversees and resources the college’s
intercollegiate athletics program with general counsel’s input.
-
Provides oversight and direction for special
educational and student services programs such as the Title III grant,
Student Support Services, College Reach Out Program, Women on the Way, Male
Outreach Initiative, and the Office of Services for Students with
Disabilities.

Coordinates the activities and training of
associate provosts and other entities related to college academic policies
and student affairs.

Participates in planning of college
instructional facilities.

Serves as college representative in academic
and student affairs with local, state, and federal agencies.

Handles staff grievances under immediate
supervision.
-
Handles student grievances college-wide and
ensures students are treated fairly during disciplinary proceedings.

Serves on the Pinellas County Education and
Articulation Committee to facilitate Dual Credit, Early Admissions, and
articulation from vocational and secondary education programs.

Oversees Lifelong Learning and College for
Kids programs.

Assist with the direction of the activities
of the PeopleSoft Student Administration System Support team with the
Academic and Student Affairs leadership.

Serves on various statewide committees.

Responsible for establishing informal
procedures as needed, and ensures new rules and procedures are communicated
to students, faculty, and staff.

Performs related duties as required.

This position is also identified as a
cabinet level position which has collegewide management responsibilities.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Doctorate degree.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Seven (7) years experience,
including five (5) years top level administrative experience in academic and/or
student affairs area.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of educational
administration and management. Verbal and written communications skills. Ability
to deal effectively with students, faculty and staff.
