POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Grant Writer

 

DEPARTMENT: Various SITE: Various

 

SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P - GRADE: B

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

Assumes responsibility for and assist in the development, processing and submission of grant and contract proposals.  Researches and collects pertinent data needed for grant development.  Prepares summary reports of grants and contracts as needed by management and administration. Responsible for identifying potential sources of funding; works with personnel to meet the requirements for proposal submission; works with subject matter experts to develop and write proposals to submit to the identified agencies or private groups; works with department heads and others to expedite grants.  Completes all necessary paperwork for board approval of grant submission and modifications.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors degree in related area

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Four (4) years experience in higher education, federal government, state government or industry working as a grant writer in the related grant field.  Extensive, highly related, demonstrated success in obtaining local, state and/or federal grants/contracts.  Experience in researching, developing and writing proposals to government and private funding sources including development of curriculum/programs, budgets and budget narrative timelines and job descriptions

 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be experienced and accomplished in researching, developing and maintaining internal and external working relationships and must have the ability to work collaboratively. Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent computer skills. Good working knowledge of grant development and management process. Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple task/projects simultaneously.
