St. Petersburg College offers two types of health coverage for eligible college employees, retirees, and COBRA participants.

Aetna Open Access Select

The Aetna Open Access Select plan does not require you to select a network primary care physician (PCP), but you are encouraged to do this.

Choice #1: You may visit your PCP for routine and preventative care, to assist you with important medical decisions, treat your illness and injuries, direct you to another preferred provider, and/or get coverage approval (precertification) to determine if the services you seek are covered.

Choice #2: Go directly to another preferred PCP or health care provider in the Aetna network.  You will not need a referral for covered expenses when you choose this option.

Aetna Choice POS II

The Aetna Choice POS II plan does not require you to select a network primary care physician (PCP), but you are encouraged to do this.

Choice #3: Go to a nonpreferred physician or health care provider.  You may visit a provider that does not participate in the Aetna network.  You must meet an annual deductible before any expenses are covered.  You must precertify expenses that require prior authorization.  You may have to file your own claims.
