POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Lead Security Dispatcher

DEPARTMENT: College Wide Security/ Facilities        SITE: District Office

SALARY SCHEDULE: Career                                        GRADE: 3

BASIC FUNCTION:

Performs duties as a Security Officer and Lead Security Dispatcher to include related office duties such as data entry, security radio communication and phone communication. Provides a security presence at the college’s District Office, records visitors and maintains a phone log of calls for security assistance.  Responsible for functioning as a lead worker over all college-wide dispatch staff and organizing work schedules.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains security at the District Office.
  • Directs and identifies visiting persons and personnel.
  • Provides information to visitors, students and staff regarding operations of the security department, in person or over the telephone.
  • Maintains radio communication with security, college wide.
  • Makes 911 call when assistance is needed by security personnel.
  • Maintains specialized records of the security department.
  • Inputs data entry for registration of vehicles.
  • Processes tickets that are written and/or paid.
  • Processes and answers inquiries regarding security department operations or functions.
  • Operates a computer, calculator, data entry machine and other office equipment.
  • Creates college identification badges
  • Prepares reports, statistics and other information relating to the operation of the security department.
  • Maintains files, records and statistics of the unit.
  • Performs data entry for the College Wide Lock Shop.
  • Directs the work of security staff, clerical staff and student assistants as a lead worker.
  • Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Must possess a Security Officer “D” License from the State of Florida.  

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Four (4) years of security and office work experience. Military and/or previous security experience on a college campus preferred. Some supervisory experience preferred as a shift supervisor or equivalent.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of security procedures and best practices. Knowledge of college policy and procedures. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Ability to write intelligible reports and memoranda. Ability to handle difficult situations; interact with college personnel, students and the public in a tactful manner.  Possession of reading/writing comprehension skills as well as computer skills. Office management skills.
