POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Research Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Institutional Research SITE: DO

SALARY SCHEDULE: Career - GRADE: 5

BASIC FUNCTION:

Monitor accuracy of college reporting systems and perform data analysis in order to support institutional decision-making.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates statistical programming and ad hoc queries to support institutional decision-making, internal and external customer’s reporting requests, as well as College reporting requirements (state and federal).
  • Analyzes datasets and prepares statistical summaries.
  • Compiles various data reports and studies to support institutional decision-making.
  • Verifies and monitors accuracy of the Student Database and relevant files pursuant to state policy.
  • Monitors accuracy of college reporting systems for various databases including student, personnel, financial, facilities, and state accountability data.
  • Conducts research projects and creates research briefs.
  • Generates, verifies, and updates information for the SPC Fact Book.
  • Provides research data requested by outside agencies.
  • Maintains the Institutional Research and Effectiveness Website.
  • Performs related duties as required.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree, including coursework in computer applications and statistics.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Three (3) years experience with statistical analysis/research projects required.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Proficiency using web resources for research.

Knowledge of HTML.

Ability to develop Web pages.

Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

Proficiency with SAS, SPSS, or other statistical software.

Knowledge of database architecture.

Ability to design, implement, and document projects.

Ability to design and document systems and procedures.

Ability to accurately proofread and edit institutional materials.
