DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Supervisor, Fleet Services
DEPARTMENT: Facilities Planning and Institutional Services
SALARY SCHEDULE: Career GRADE: 6 (Exempt)
BASIC FUNCTION:
Functions as the Fleet Services
Supervisor involved in the training, testing and monitoring of all college bus
drivers. Duties also include responsibility for overseeing the repair and
servicing of all college vehicles and performing the duties of a Bus
Driver/Mechanic.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible
for functioning as the Fleet Services Supervisor in the training, testing and
monitoring of all college Bus Drivers.
·
Duties
require working a varied time schedule to include nights, weekends, holidays
and overnight.
·
Plans and
conducts Fleet Services staff meetings.
·
Screens
applications, interviews and recommends new driver hires.
·
Maintains
driver license records for all drivers as obtained from Fla. DHSMV.
·
Coordinate
the driving schedules and assign drivers for all trips. Checks data base to
ensure that all trip sheets and other information are complete and ready for
communication to the assigned driver.
·
Maintains
driver time sheets, TRV’s, OPS driver paperwork and records relating to Fleet
Services. Estimates bus travel expenses for Fleet Service customers and
schedules travel routes, in cooperation with supervisors.

Trains
drivers and administers the federally mandated Drug and Alcohol testing
program. Maintains training, education and confidentially of all records or
this program to ensure DOT compliance.

Maintains
the budget allocation for maintenance of all college vehicles, buses and
personnel payroll.
·
Responsible
for seeing that college buses and all passenger vehicles have been repaired and
serviced and are in ready to use condition for the assigned drivers.

Coordinates
and schedules the servicing of all college vehicles. Manages the driving
records for all college vehicles, including repairs and servicing.

Orders,
registers and titles all new vehicles. Disposes of surplus vehicles in
accordance with rules and procedures.

Drives a
multi-passenger motor coach transporting college staff to games, events or
meetings.
·
Performs
pre-trip inspections on vehicles as part of vehicle safety and maintenance policy
and laws.

Maintains
fuel levels and performs minor repairs when necessary.
·
Make
repairs to buses and other college vehicles that can be done in-house.
Discusses and decides, with department supervisor, what vendor to use for those
repairs that cannot be done in-house.

Performs
related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an accredited
high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Possession of a
Class “B” Florida CDL with air brake and passenger endorsement.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Four (4) years experience in the
operation of a bus, multi-passenger motor coach or similar vehicles. Good
driving record.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of the operations of a
bus, multi-passenger motor coach or similar vehicle. Mechanical knowledge.
Skill in reading comprehension. Knowledge of
Special Requirement: Must be capable of working a varied time schedule
to include nights, weekends, holidays and overnight.
