BASIC FUNCTION:
Supervises In-House
Construction crew which includes Skilled Tradesworkers, Structured Cabling
Technicians, Journeyman Electricians, and Master Electrician. Also, performs skilled construction work of
facilities at college sites in accordance with college specifications and
standards as well as the Florida Building Code.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v Supervises the construction crew and
participates in the minor construction projects at all college sites.
v
Responsible
for ensuring building permits are issued for work performed by the crew.
v
Responsible
for scheduling work and inspecting to ensure compliance with the Florida
Building Code.
v Schedules work for the crew and
ensures that the work is being performed in accordance with college standards
and procedures.
v
Co-ordinates
with the Safety and Environmental Department on work permits.
v
Co-ordinates
with college staff on all requested jobs.
v Assists in the scheduling of work
for the crew
v Responsible for approving time sheets,
travel time, materials used and other related data and required information for
all crew members.
v Assigns the work in all phases of
construction including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, roofing and mechanical
repair.
v Assists in training of construction
crew employees.
v Assists supervisors in planning
in-house construction and renovation projects.
v Performs construction job layout and
estimates material and time needed for the project.
v Evaluates employees and recommends
appropriate action.
v Assures acceptable customer service
standards are maintained by construction crew.
v Performs related duties as required
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an
accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Four (4) years experience in general
building construction trades.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of construction
trades practices and methods. Knowledge of construction tools and equipment.
Knowledge of building codes. Knowledge of safety precautions required in the
building trades field. Skill in interpreting blueprints and drawings. Ability
to climb ladders. Ability to lift heavy equipment. Skill in reading
comprehension. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Ability to pass a post qualification
physical examination. Supervisory skills. Possession of a CDL Class
"D" Florida Driver's License.
