POSITION DESCRIPTION

BASIC FUNCTION:
Performs complex equipment
installation, maintenance and repair work with an emphasis on the electrical
systems college-wide in accordance with college specifications and standards as
well as the Florida Building Code.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v
Performs
skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance and repair of college
electrical systems and equipment under the direct supervision of the Master
Electrician.
v
Repairs
and replaces electrical lighting and ballasts.
v
Rewires
or installs light fixtures and electrical panels.
v
Repairs
and replaces electrical breakers and devices.
v
Takes
voltage and amperage readings. Runs conduit as needed.
v
Performs
maintenance and construction tasks in the trades area as assigned.
v Responsible for the design layouts needed for permitting in accordance with the Florida Building Code.
v Responsible for working with Facilities Planning and Institutional Services Safety and Environmental department on all jobs.
v
Assists
other maintenance personnel and performs building maintenance tasks as assigned.
v Responsible for the maintenance of assigned vehicle.
v
Maintains
records of time and materials used on jobs.
v Prepares reports related to job duties, time, materials, etc.
v
Performs
related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an
accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Journeyman level
electrician. Six (6) years field experience in the electrical trade.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of the
electrical, building and construction trades practices. Ability to climb
ladders and lift heavy equipment. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Ability to
read basic blueprints. Skill in reading comprehension. Ability to pass a post
qualification physical examination. CDL Class "D" Florida Driver's
