POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE:  Master Electrician

DEPARTMENT: Institutional Services                 SITE: Various

SALARY SCHEDULE: Facilities/Skilled Trades     LEVEL: 4

BASIC FUNCTION:

Installs, repairs, alters, adds to, or designs, in compliance with college specifications and standards and law, electrical wiring, fixtures, appliances, apparatus, raceways, conduit, or any part thereof, which generates, transmits, transforms, or utilizes electrical energy in any form.  Also, performs supervision and training for College employed Journeyman, Tradesworkers and Helpers. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs and supervises electrical installations, maintenance and repairs of college electrical systems and equipment.
• Performs electrical training and instruction to other technical personnel, to include but not limited to, College employed Journeyman, Tradesworkers and Helpers.
• Coordinates with Construction Crew Supervisor and Site Supervisors for new electrical installation requests.
• Applies for and maintains records of permits, hours and materials used on projects or other In-house Electrical work.
• Attends plan review meetings to review electrical specifications on college projects on an as needed basis. 
• Responsible for working with Facilities Planning and Institutional Services Safety and Environmental department on all jobs. 
• Responsible for the maintenance of assigned vehicle.
• Responsible for design layouts needed for permitting required by the Florida Building Code. 
• Prepares reports related to job duties, time, materials, et cetera. 
• Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. County recognized Master electrical license. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Master Level Electrician. Eight (8) years of field experience in electrical trade. 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of electrical, building and other construction trade practices. Ability to climb ladders and lift heavy equipment.  Has basic blue print reading, drafting, mathematics, computer, and comprehension skills.  Ability to pass a post qualification physical examination. CDL Class "D" Florida Driver's License. Possession of a Pinellas County Master Electricians License or Equivalent.
