POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Mechanical Tradesworker

DEPARTMENT:  Facilities Services                    SITE: Various

SALARY SCHEDULE: Facilities/Skilled Trades  LEVEL: 2

BASIC FUNCTION:

Performs skilled work in installation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and controls in commercial / institutional applications . Performs other maintenance tasks and duties as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs maintenance and repair to heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment as assigned.
• Performs installation and preventative maintenance work for all types of HVAC equipment.
• Installs, repairs, calibrates and maintains building control systems.
• Assists other maintenance personnel and performs building maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Maintains records of hours and materials used on projects.
• Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Graduation from an accredited Vocational school in Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning (HVAC) or a State or County recognized Journeymen’s Certificate / License.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Four (4) years field experience in the maintenance and repair of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning equipment in Commercial and Industrial chilled water systems, compressors, motors, Air distribution, variable air volume systems, electronic and pneumatic controls and related equipment.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of mechanical and HVAC trades. Ability to climb ladders and lift heavy equipment. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Skill in reading comprehension. Ability to pass a post qualification physical examination. EPA Certification for refrigerants (Universal). CDL Class "D" Florida Driver's License.
