ELIGIBILITY FOR CREDENTIALING:
Possessing a professional credential enhances career prospects and salaries. Credentialed professionals undergo continuing education to update their knowledge and skills with current industry practices and technical changes.
Health Information Management students who have earned the Associate in Science degree are eligible to take the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credentialing exam offered by the American Health Information Management Association. The RHIT credential is recognized nationally and demonstrates a significant level of professional achievement and expertise to employers seeking qualified job candidates.
Medical Coding Certificate students are eligible to take one of three coding credentialing exams: Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and Certified Coding Specialist- Physician-based (CCS-P).
