1. How can I get information on the Nursing program?

On this site you will find the minimum requirements checklist, General Nursing Program application and LPN / Paramedic application. You can also call (727) 341-3404 to have an information packet mailed to you. You can reach a Health Education Center Academic Advisor at (727) 341-3687.


2. Is there a waiting list?

We no longer add students to a waiting list. There is a selective admissions process which is a point system based upon your GPA and completion of general education and support courses. Contact a HEC Advisor if you have questions concerning specific courses.

4. When can I apply to Nursing program?

You can apply once you have met all of your minimum application requirements. Please see an Academic Advisor at HEC as early as possible to review your academic plan.


5. What is the minimum GPA?

The minimum GPA to apply is 2.75.


6. Is there a part time program?

At this time we only offer a fulltime program.


7. What are the days and hours?

The days and times can vary. You should plan to attend 3 to 4 days per week. Day students hours are generally between 7am to 3 pm and evening classes are generally between the hours of 3 pm to 11 pm but can start as early as 1 pm.


8. What is the cost of the Nursing Program?

Currently the approximate estimated cost of the Nursing Program is $8,400. This includes tuition, fees, books and supplies. This estimate may vary and is subject to change.


9. Where are the Nursing classes held?

Nursing classes are held at the Caruth Health Education Center located at 7200 66th St. N in Pinellas Park. Your clinical component will be held at various local hospitals.


10. What hospitals do you use?

Your clinical component will be held at various local hospitals throughout Pinellas County. A list of participating hospitals can be viewed on the Partnerships page.


11. Do you offer scholarships?

There are many scholarships available to you once you become a Nursing student. Check out the Nursing Commons and scholarship boards at HEC for more information. Financial Aid can be obtained through your home campus. Also, loan forgiveness programs are afforded to qualifying students through their employers and other agencies. Contact your academic advisor or financial aid office for details.


12. Is there a cost to apply to the Nursing Program?

There is no cost for the Nursing application process.


13. How many times a year does the program start?

The program starts in January and August. LPN to RN Transitional Program starts in January, May and August.


14. How long is the program?

The Nursing curriculum takes 4 semesters. LPN to RN Transitional Program takes 3 semesters.
