SPC Nursing Program

Background Checks & Drug Screenings

Students who meet the academic requirements for enrollment in Nursing, Allied Health, Veterinary Technology, or the Funeral Services Program, (collectively, health-related programs) must pass a background check prior to placement and enrollment in any of the above programs. After admission to a Health Program, students will be contacted regarding the background check and drug screening process.

Additionally, prior to acceptance prospective students will be tested and must pass a drug screening. If the program enrollment occurs 90 days or longer after acceptance, prospective students may be retested and must pass a second drug screening. All students enrolled in a health-related program, are required to be drug and/or alcohol free when reporting to school and while at "affiliating agencies" (including parking lots and grounds).   Students violating this Rule will be subject to dismissal from the program. For additional information see Board of Trustees Rule 6Hx23-4.53.
