Project Goals

This project has reached the Goal 3, the first goals are provided as background only.

GOAL 1

To develop and validate nationally relevant curricula for an Associate of Science Degree, an Advanced Technical Certificate, and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology Security that integrate widely accepted IT Security skill standards and high demand industry certifications from (ISC)2 ( International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium), NWCET (National Workforce Center for Emerging Technologies), CompTIA (Computer Trade Industry Association), and NSTISSC (National Security Telecommunications and Information Systems Security Committee).

GOAL 2

To provide faculty development opportunities in information security and then prepare courses. Courses will be based upon the degree and certificate programs being developed and will include all critical core curricula.

GOAL 3

Disseminate the curriculum and best practice knowledge gained in this project to  community colleges in the United States to stimulate interest in IT Security careers and to increase the number of students enrolling in and graduation from the IT security programs at community colleges nationwide.

St. Petersburg College will fund the continuation of this project, beginning in July 2008.
