On Jan. 21, 2013, the community came out in force to serve in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day instead of just taking a day off.
With funding from the Florida Legislature, St. Petersburg College collaborated with an advisory committee of local citizens to encourage people of all ages to step up and serve in our community.
The results were inspiring:
- Volunteers - 1,671
- Business/Community Partnerships - 202
- Cash donated - $6,245
- In-kind donations - $14,982
- Applications submitted - 90
- Funding requested - $500,000
- Projects awarded - 55
- Amount funded - $100,000
Looking towards 2014
With our inaugural event behind us, we are starting now to expand our base of local support for 2014 through local corporate and community sponsors and partnerships.
