YOUTH SERVICES POLICY

Mission Statement

The Seminole Community Library Youth Services Department promotes reading and learning as an important part of family life. We provide a welcoming environment where children, teens, parents, teachers, and childcare workers have access to information and ideas.

Collections

The Youth Services Department offers a broad selection of materials for ages birth through high school. The library also offers a special Parent/Teacher Collection that includes material for teachers, parents, childcare providers and caregivers.

Services

Provide reference and readers’ advisory service
Offer a collection that meets the recreational and informational needs of the community
Provide computer access
Assist the public in the use of library material and equipment
Provide tours of the youth and teen areas
Schedule class or group visits
Plan and present public programs
Offer outreach programs to public and private schools, daycares, and other community organizations that serve children
Provide a cassette listening station
Provide display space for schools or community agencies
Coordinate a Summer Teen Volunteer Program
Supervises a Library Youth Advisory Board
