YOUTH SERVICES POLICY

 

Mission Statement

 

The Seminole Community Library Youth Services Department promotes reading and learning as an important part of family life.  We provide a welcoming environment where children, teens, parents, teachers, and childcare workers have access to information and ideas.

 

Collections

 

The Youth Services Department offers a broad selection of materials for ages birth through high school.  The library also offers a special Parent/Teacher Collection that includes material for teachers, parents, childcare providers and caregivers.

The Youth Services Department also participates in the following City events:

  • Halloween Program
  • Pow Wow Parade
  • Winterfest
  • Earth Day

 

Services

  • Provide reference and readers’ advisory service
  • Offer a collection that meets the recreational and informational needs of the community
  • Provide computer access
  • Assist the public in the use of library material and equipment
  • Provide tours of the youth and teen areas
  • Schedule class or group visits
  • Plan and present public programs
  • Offer outreach programs to public and private schools, daycares, and other community organizations that serve children
  • Provide a cassette listening station
  • Provide display space for schools or community agencies
  • Coordinate a Summer Teen Volunteer Program
  • Supervises a Library Youth Advisory Board
