What students have said about this text and its project-based teaching/learning approach:
Math is Everywhere! is probably THE single, best text I have ever used. … I was very intimidated by math prior to taking this class and now feel much more confident. Great job and great class!
I have actually used the words “Math” and “Fun” in the same sentence many times during this class which is something I have never done before. I will recommend this class to everyone (especially math-phobics) and thank you for changing my attitude about math.
I loved our text. It is by far the best mathematics book I’ve had the pleasure of using! You personalize math well and really present real life analogies for everything. So much of math seemed abstract before. You did an excellent job of bringing math into the realm of reality!
I loved this whole course. This was the first time I have ever liked math. Even now, just saying that, "I liked Math", is a little scary. I loved this whole course. It taught me about math and didn't scare me away.
This is a great course. It has challenged me, intrigued me, informed me, and forced me to learn about subjects that I would never have investigated on my own. Each week was a pleasant surprise, an adventure into subjects that I knew very little about but came away with new insights and appreciation for these aspects of math.
I thought the textbook was awesome in terms of the material and information provided for each section. I have never seen a math book so easy to follow with really great applications at the end of each section. I was pleased to see the material in the book coincide with websites to implement what we were learning. I have no doubt that I will use the material in this textbook again for personal use.
My attitude toward math has changed as a result of this class. I have taken many math classes and never enjoyed any as much as this one. I never really understood or even correlated math to everyday life. Math has never been this much fun. My analytical reasoning skills are most definitely improved.
Math Is Everywhere! Explore and Discover It! is the best text book ever. It is very different from traditional boring math books. This text book was very easy to understand (even for international students like myself). Its style and structure are perfect. Every single assignment is explained in full detail.
I have so much more confidence in my reasoning skills after this course. Rather than learning a formula and doing the exercises, we have to think about how and why the math works. It was like learning without realizing it.
My attitude toward math has changed drastically. I hated math prior to this course. Now I am recommending this course to my friends. I have learned ten times more in this class than I have learned in all of my math classes combined. This course is fun, and exciting. Thanks for the experience.
