Community Borrowing Services

SPC offers library services to many local residents in good standing with their public library. We currently have agreements with the libraries listed below:

- Pinellas County Public Library Consortium (PPLC)
- Tampa-Hillsborough County Library System
- Pasco County Library System
- County Library Systems in DeSota, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands & Okeechobee
- Many individual libraries in the Tampa Bay Library Consortium (TBLC)

Community library users must present their PPLC card at the circulation desk of an SPC library. They will be asked to fill out a community borrower card and to provide some form of picture identification. Borrowers under 18 will be required to obtain parental permission before they are permitted to check-out materials.

BORROWING RULES

Community members may borrow up to five books at one time from SPC. We must occasionally limit circulation in certain topics because of student needs. There is a two-week due date, but items may be renewed twice providing there is no request outstanding. AV and other special materials may not be checked out. Borrowers may renew by phone, if items are not overdue. Borrowing privileges may be suspended if $10 or more is owed.

Multi-Campus Conveniences

Once registered, your public library card will be honored at any SPC library. You may return items, pay fines, and use other library services at any site. If books are located at another SPC library, we have a service that can deliver them to the site you usually visit. 

Characteristics of College Libraries

You will find that the SPC libraries often have specialized materials not found in public libraries. In particular, we provide access to journals in various academic fields and reference books corresponding to SPC student needs. We try to provide a quiet study atmosphere. It is not a good idea to bring small children if you plan to visit more than just a few minutes. College policy requires children younger than high school age to be accompanied by a parent or guardian while in the library for short visits only; older children may not assume the guardian role.
