WEEK  ONE:    June 9-June 13, 2008
Class #1944
Debbie Bacon Brain Games
Now that school is over it’s time to use those skills to have fun. Students will have fun playing various games, puzzles, and problem solving situations using math and team work.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: To practice sportsmanship conduct and have fun while learning various game strategies.

The World of Engineering
Have you ever wondered how a bridge or airplane is made? Join us as we work in engineering teams to build marvels that really work.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: Students will work together designing and implementing basic engineering rules.
Danielle Nadzan Crafts of the World
Join us as we explore different cultures to learn more about the world around us. Then we are going to get creative by making several beautiful crafts to remember our journey.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: At the conclusion of this class the students will have made several different crafts and be able to describe the culture that it represents.
Ray Mitchell Basketball and More
During this week we will be dribbling, shooting, and passing the basketball. We will also be playing exciting games such as Sideline basketball, Around the World, Horse, and Knock Out.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: During this class students will learn the basics of basketball through games that can be played individually or as a team.

CFK II
Class #1951

CFK II will give the students the opportunity to interact with other students in various educational activities. Activities may include group activities, special events and free time for student use. A minimal amount of outside activity may be included.

Class # 1945

Kip Mitchell Computer Basics/Computer Games
Did you every wonder how a computer works? Come learn how to use a laptop and have fun using programs that adults use each day.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: The students will learn the basics of using a laptop computer and use math, science and social studies through computer use.

The World of Force and Motion
Force and Motion are all around us. In this course we will discover how these two items keep our world moving.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: Students will use hands on science to make various items and participate in activities that demonstrate how force and motion work.

Danielle Nadzan Crafts of the World Part 2
We’ll continue our imaginary journey to explore different cultures from around the world. Through the crafts and activities students will get a better understanding of the world around them.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: At the conclusion of this class the students will have several different crafts and be able to describe the culture that it represents.

Ray Mitchell Recreational Games
This week will be jam packed with fun games that kids usual play in p.e. classes. Games like, Flag Tag, Last Pin Down, Frisbee Memory, Mouse Trap, Dog Catcher and more are yearly favorites.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: During this week students will have fun developing social skills and team spirit.

CFK II will give the students the opportunity to interact with other students in various educational activities. Activities may include group activities, special events and free time for student use. A minimal amount of outside activity may be included.

Week III: June 23-June 27, 2008
Class # 1946

Kip Mitchell Scrapbooking
Ever want to keep a picture or special award so you can cherish it forever? During this week you will learn how, as we create a mini album showcasing your family, friends, sports or pets. We’ll be getting creative on the computer and doing some graphic designing to make an album that looks great.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: Students will get to use creative writing, graphic design, and computers to produce a mini album for their family and friends.

3, 2, 1, Blast off with Rockets
This class is out of this world! In this class students will have a chance to make and launch their own rocket while discovering the answers to intriguing questions about aviation and aerospace.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: Students will have a basic understanding of aero space engineering.
Danielle Nadzan American Tall Tales
Everyone loves a tall tale! Join us as we read and write about the tall tales that grew out of Americas past. Students will also work on making a character of gigantic proportions.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: At the conclusion of this class students will understand the genre of tall tales and create one of their own.
Debbie Bacon Wonders of China
During this week we will be exploring the art, music and culture of China. Students will be making their own Chinese tale, work with tangrams, and taste a wonderful Chinese treat.

CFK II will give the students the opportunity to interact with other students in various educational activities. Activities may include group activities, special events and free time for student use. A minimal amount of outside activity may be included.

Week IV: June 30-July 3, 2008

Kip Mitchell Creative Cards Making
We’ll have lots of fun making creative cards for our friends and family. The computer and other craft materials will make these cards a special gift to anyone who receives them.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: Learn how to use Word on the computer for journaling; follow written and oral directions; be creative using cardstock and materials.

Frisbee Golf
During this class students will get to explore the wonderful game that brings golf and Frisbee together. Students will get to design their own golf course, set that course up, and then play it.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: Students will be able to set up their own course and play at home.
Debbie Bacon Game Time
Board games, classroom favorites, and much more are awaiting you during game time. This week will be loaded with fun games you’ll want to play with your family and friends. You’ll also be making a few of your own to take home with you.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: To practice sportsmanship conduct and have fun while learning strategies.
Danielle Nadzan Experimental Science
This week will be full of hands on science experiments that will astound you. As we experiment, we’ll have a “blast” learning about the world around us.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: Students will understand five different principles of science and better understand the scientific method.

CFK II will give the students the opportunity to interact with other students in various educational activities. Activities may include group activities, special events and free time for student use. A minimal amount of outside activity may be included.
Week V: July 7-July 11, 2008
Class # 1948
Bob Selleck The Deep Blue Sea
Students will explore sea life, plants, and animals of various regions in the sea. Through hands on activities and experiments, students will better understand the oceans around them.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: Students will have a better understanding of the world’s oceans.

Debbie Bacon

Tessellations and Rotating Shape Designers
Students will have fun making interesting designs and works of art using geometry. Who knows, we could find the next M. C. Escher!

• Expected Outcome for the Students: To associate math vocabulary with designs that have been created, ex. symmetry, intersect diameter and various shapes and to enjoy the art of design.

This will be our second trip out of this world! In this class students will have another chance to make and launch their own rocket while discovering the answers to intriguing questions about aviation and aerospace.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: Students will have a basic understanding of aero space engineering and build a rocket.

It's a Hit
We will be hitting all kinds of balls this week as we learn to play many popular sports. Games such as baseball, volleyball, tetherball, kickball are playground favorites all across America.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: During this course students will develop hand-eye coordination, while learning to hit different types of balls.

Week VI: July 14-July 18, 2008
Class # 1949
Bob Selleck The Wild-Wild West
During this week we will explore the American frontier from Lewis and Clark to the Early 1900’s. Through activities and crafts we’ll learn about the people and animals that defined this time period.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: Students will gain an understanding of differences between people of the past and those of today.
Debbie Bacon String Along with Art
Students will create beautiful string design patterns using colored pencils or markers that can be transferred to wood using hammers and nails.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: Students will discover patterns and create their own unique designs.
Bill Shane Engineering
This week you’ll be working with other students to make different projects that engineers in the real world make. Each group will then have a chance to test their creations against each other to find the best College for Kids engineers.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: Students will work together designing and implementing basic engineering rules.
Ray Mitchell The Olympic Games
Let the games begin! This week will allow students to experience a week of Olympic type games. Kids will try long jumps, high jumps, running events, throwing events and relays just like real Olympians.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: During this course students will build character through sports that could be challenging.

Castles, Forts, and Fortresses
Would you love to live in a huge castle? You’ll know for sure after we explore many famous castles, forts, and fortresses. You’ll even get to make your own to take home!

• Expected Outcome for the Students: Students will gain an understanding of why castles were built and how they were made.

Toothpick Skyscrapers
How can tall buildings stay standing even during hurricanes? Join us as we use toothpicks, glue and paper to create model skyscrapers. We’ll also learn about other famous buildings from around the world.

• Expected Outcome for the Students: Students will discover patterns and create their own unique designs.
