Linda Dremstedt Basketball - "Swish"
Students will enjoy all kinds of basketball games under the shade of our court cover.

• Students will learn basketball dribbling, shooting and game playing skills.

Students will explore mythology using creative writing, technology and geography.

• This week students will be introduced to mythology.
Brandy Craven Using Digital Photography to Inspire Creative Writing
Integration of the arts. Students will take digital still life photography and then use these images to inspire their own creative writing.

• Several writing styles will be introduced. This week will focus on Haiku. By the end of the week, each student will have an integrated piece of writing and artwork to take home.
Andy Fernandez Genres: Fiction, Fantasy and Plays
Readers will read, discuss, response and perform different types of Fiction. Students will also learn and identify story structures.

Multi Cultural Cooking in the Eastern Hemisphere
Students will listen to wonderful literature about how children eat in other parts of the world. We will make a different recipe each day and design a cookbook of all the week’s recipes to take home at the end of the week.

CFK II will give the students the opportunity to interact with other students in various educational activities. Activities may include group activities, special events and free time for student use. A minimal amount of outside activity may be included.

Week II : June 16-June 20, 2008
Class # 2047

Linda Dremstedt Volleyball - "Bump, Set, Spike!"
Students will enjoy a variety of volleyball lead up games.

• Students will learn the forearm pass, the overhead set, under- hand serve and spike.

Students will explore mythology using creative writing, technology and geography.

• Students will be introduced to the Greek gods and goddesses.

• Several writing styles will be introduced. This week will focus on Couplets. By the end of the week, each student will have an integrated piece of writing and artwork to take home.
Andy Fernandez Genres: Non-Fiction
Reading autobiographies, biographies, science and world cultures. Readers will develop a skill toward detail and how it relates to the main ideas of the genre.

Linda Dremstedt Let's Go Play
Like any great P.E. class, students will have a variety of activities.

• Students will warm up outside for 30 minutes playing kickball, soccer, volleyball and tag games. Then they will cool down inside for 20 minutes with jump rope, juggling and cup stacking.

Students will investigate historical, informative and literature based action materials. Readers will learn about, read, discuss and create different typed of non-violent comic books.

Florida Fantasy Vacation
Pack your bags! We’re going on a “virtual” vacation around Florida.
• Keeping track of expenses, reading brochures and travel guides, writing post cards from the road, plotting your route are the skills implemented
• “Vacationing” students will take home paper bag messenger bags describing their adventure.

• Students will explore ancient Greece making maps locating sites, learning geographical areas including oceans and landforms.

• Several writing styles will be introduced. This week will focus on personal narrative. By the end of the week, each student will have an integrated piece of writing and artwork to take home.

Reader will learn, read, discuss and apply knowledge to an atlas, dictionary, encyclopedia and record books for the information they provide.

Using a variety of technology software, online sites and digital presentations, students will investigate many characteristics of the Earth’s surface.

Readers will read, respond, discuss and classify the content from this series of books. Also students will judge whether the video with the same title follows the book accurately.

Students will make and take a souvenir suitcase filled with maps, planning notes, and postcards from the road as they explore the state and national parks of the United States.
• Students will integrate reading and math skills as they analyze travel brochures and keep track of travel “expenses”

Join in the fun as we explore different art from around the world. We will also learn about the culture and geography of the country our art comes from.

• The students will pull from their own experiences and thoughts to write short stories, poetry and possibly—even a mystery!

Students will learn to make nutritious and healthy choices that taste good and are good for them.

• Students will explore the food pyramid, nutrition labels and will develop strategies to make healthy choices in a variety of places. (home, fast food restaurants, school, etc.)

Explore the deep, dark sea. Students will investigate deep sea creatures, underwater volcanoes, vents and mounts through hands on inquiry, virtual tours and demonstrations.
• Examine ecosystems located deep in the oceans.

Join in the fun as we explore different art from around the world. We will also learn about the culture and geography of the country our art comes from.

• Students will demonstrate knowledge of different kinds of art from North and Central America.

Students will be taking a journalistic view and then write about what is going on at Camp on a day to day basis!

Students will learn the benefits of exercise.

• Students will learn the importance of daily exercise, how much exercise they need and how much fun exercise can be!
Lynn Wolf Fantasy Vacation
Pack your bags—We’re going on a trip!

• Students will use travel brochures and tour books to plan the ultimate vacation. “Families” of children will plot their route, decide which state or national park to tour and keep track of their gas, food and lodging expenses.
• Students will solve real world problems working in collaborative, small groups. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, using decimals and money and geometric plotting are the math skills to be explored. Improved knowledge of the United States’ geography is one of the outcomes for the students.

Class # 2059   
CFK II will give the students the opportunity to interact with other students in various educational activities. Activities may include group activities, special events and free time for student use. A minimal amount of outside activity may be included.
