ALF CORE Competency Test
Information
ALF CORE Training is a pre-requisite to taking the ALF CORE
Competency Test. You cannot take the ALF CORE Competency
Test without having completed ALF CORE Training. USF
(University of South Florida) administers the ALF CORE
Competency Test. The tests are given regionally during the
year. Tests are no longer given at the end of each ALF CORE
Training class.
At the conclusion of your ALF CORE
Training Class, ALF students will receive testing
application forms and a current list of testing dates. SPC
(St. Petersburg College) will send your name and address to
USF to certify you for the exam. It is the attendee’s
responsibility to sign-up for a testing date with USF and to
submit the funds for testing after ALF CORE Training is
completed.

Training Lists:
ALF Exam applicants cannot register for the exam
until USF confirms they have completed training. Your
ALF Core instructor at St. Petersburg College will send
your name to USF once you have completed the class and
received your certificate of attendance.
Each ALF Core Training student will complete an exam
application. You will receive the exam application at the
completion of the class. The student must complete the
application and send it to USF.
USF must receive registration applications at least 10
business days before a test date and can only
complete applicants registration if USF has received the
certification from St. Petersburg College that the ALF Core
Training student has completed the class.
USF must receive the training list from the ALF
instructor one week before the test date. For example,
students cannot complete training one day and then test the
next. If your ALF Core Training class finishes close to the
test date in that city, please note that there may not be
enough time to register for that test date.
