BOATING
AAP0649 Boater Safety
Students will learn to better navigate the seas through this eight-hour, one-day boater course. The course offers information on safe and proper boat handling, rules of the waterways, and knot tying. Personal watercraft operation is included in the course. A state of Florida certificate and boater ID will be issued upon completion.
Why choose the BoaterED Boating Safety Course?
Are you a new boat or waverunner owner? Have you just relocated to sunny Florida or are you unfamiliar with our waters? Now is the time to participate in a Boating Safety class taught by an active boater and a local marine patrol officer dedicated to education and safety on our water.
This course meets the requirements for:
  • certification of youthful operators of a vessel with 10HP motor or larger

  • mandatory education for boater safety violators

  • eligibility for boater insurance discount

It's the law

Mandatory boater education is now the law for anyone born after September 30, 1980 wishing to operate a motorized vessel of more than 10 horsepower in the state of Florida. The Boater Education Law (Section 327.395 Florida Statutes) went into effect October 1, 1996.

The state of Florida has amended its Mandatory Violator Bill so that boaters who receive a boating citation must take an approved Boating Safety Course.
