Major Francis K. Hart, Jr.
Special Operations Division, Polk County Sheriff's Office

Major Hart has served with the Polk County Sheriff's Office for 28 years in various positions and supervisory roles from Uniform Patrol, Narcotics, Intelligence, and Organized Crime, and currently serves as the Division Commander for the Special Operations Division.

His responsibilities include Aviation, Marine, Agricultural and Environmental Units as well as the Emergency Operations Group, which include the Emergency Response Team and the Crisis Negotiations Team. He also manages Telecommunications, School Resource Deputies, School Crossing Guards and Animal Services.

During the 2004 hurricanes, he spent 45 days managing the Joint Operatiosn Command in the response to Hurricanes Charlie, Frances and Jeanne, all three eyes struck Polk County, including overseeing the deployment of a 45-man Task Fource to Excambia County, between Hurrican Frances and Hurrican Jeanne.
