Apply for admission

Congratulations on taking the first step to becoming a student at St. Petersburg College. Applying to SPC is a simple online process that takes 10-15 minutes to complete. This application is for first time in college, transfer or transient students who wish to apply as a credit (degree or non-degree) seeking student.

ImportantWho should NOT complete this application process?
The application process varies for students who wish to register for non-credit classes (personal enrichment or continuing education classes) or international students.

Once you begin, you may not save your application so it must be completed and submitted during the same session. Your application session will time out after 20 minutes of inactivity.  At the end of the application you will be asked to pay a $40 non-refundable application fee. If you are applying to one of our high school programs, the application fee is waived.

Residency classification

As an SPC student you are classified as either a Florida resident or an out-of-state resident. The tuition you pay is determined by your residency classification. A Florida resident pays a much lower tuition rate than an out-of-state resident.

If you are a Florida resident, you can easily establish residency during the online application process to qualify for the lower, in-state tuition rate by providing valid ID numbers for two of the following documents, issued at least 12 months before the first day of your classes:

  • Florida Driver’s License or Florida ID
  • Florida Vehicle Registration
  • Florida Voter’s Registration

If you are a dependent student (you provide less than 50% of your own support), you will need to provide documents of a parent or legal guardian.

If you can’t provide two of the items above during the online application process, you will be classified initially as a non-resident. You may provide other documentation to be reclassified as a resident for tuition purposes by mail or in-person, as described during the residency section of this application.
