CHEERLEADER RULES & REGULATIONS

Cheerleaders will cheer for men's and women's basketball. Cheerleaders will perform at pep rallies and any functions representing SPC.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- Must be enrolled at SPC in at least 12 credit hours per semester
- Must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better per semester
- Must have a very flexible schedule

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Cheerleaders are financially responsible for loss, damage, repair and/or replacement of uniforms. Spot cleaning and/or dry cleaning may be required. Uniforms must be returned at the end of the basketball seasons or when student is no longer a cheerleader. If uniforms are not returned, the student's records will be placed on "HOLD."

INSURANCE

SPC provides supplemental insurance which covers the balance of a claim after the cheerleader's primary insurance pays.

GAME ATTIRE

Cheerleaders will wear designated uniform/outfit to school on game days. No heavy make-up or jewelry may be worn at the games.

Practice attire: Neat shorts, tops, and appropriate undergarments are to be worn. Tennis shoes and socks must be worn at all times. School clothes are not appropriate. Hair should be tied back securely. Nails must be cut short for practice and performance.

BEHAVIOR/ABSENCES

Cheerleaders will conduct themselves with dignity and pride on and off campus, upholding the highest standards of St. Petersburg College. Cheerleaders will be examples of cooperative attitude, especially while in uniform.

Cheerleaders who quit or are removed for non-compliance to any rules may be ineligible for future cheerleader tryouts. School suspension or academic probation will result in automatic dismissal.

Cheerleading schedules of practices, games, and functions will be provided well in advance. Illness of self and/or death in the family are the only excused absences. All appointments and other commitments should be scheduled around cheerleading. Failure to attend the games and practices will result in benching during game, or suspension and/or removal.

Cheerleading for SPC is a commitment of your time. If you participate in additional organizations or activities that will compete for your time, cheering for SPC MUST take priority over other obligations. Splitting your obligation is unacceptable.
