Earnest Crumbley

EARNEST CRUMBLEY
Head Coach

A native of St. Petersburg and a graduate of Boca Ciega High School, Coach Crumbley graduated from Arizona Western College before transferring to Utah State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Utah State University. He also has a master’s in Educational Counseling from the University of South Florida. He has been a full-time employee at St. Petersburg College since 1992.

This is his 12th year as head coach of the men’s basketball team. His teams have won three Suncoast Conference championships, making him Conference Coach of the Year in 2001-02, 2004-04 and 2005-06. He also was Florida Coach of the Year in 2001-02, when his team finished ninth in the nation after representing Region 8 in the national tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Coach Crumbley is a President of Delta Omicron Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. in St. Petersburg. He and his wife Shirley, a Student Services officer at the college, have two sons. Earnest Jr. graduated in 2004 from Florida Atlantic University, where he was FAU’s all-time leading scorer and assist maker.   He currently is working at University of North Florida in there men’s basketball program as an assistant coach.  Kory graduated from St. Petersburg College in 2004 after two stellar seasons with the Titans and Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach after playing on a basketball scholarship.

 
 

 
 

George Carbart GEORGE CARBART
Assistant Coach

Coach Carbart is a native of St. Petersburg and a graduate of Boca Ciega High School, where he enjoyed an outstanding prep career as the leading scorer in Pinellas County in 1975. He was inducted into Boca Ciega High School Athletic "Hall of Fame" in January 2006 for Outstanding Achievement in Basketball. He has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Florida A&M University.

He was an assistant coach at FAMU in 1981 for the late Josh Giles (formerly of Polk Community College). Coach Carbart then moved to a position at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore for four years. He was a head coach in the NBA Summer Pro League in Los Angeles and a former NBA scout for the L.A. Clippers and L.A. Lakers, where he was responsible for scouting Division I and II teams for Bill Bertka. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and Phi Delta Kappa.

In his 12th year at SPC, he assists in all phases of the program, including recruiting, on-the-floor coaching and game-day preparation.

 
     
 

NICK BERRY
Assistant Coach

A graduate of St. Petersburg College and a former member of the 2001-02 St. Petersburg College national tournament team where he was the leading score,  Nick has a bachelor’s degree from the former named Bethune Cookman College and current name Bethune Cookman University.

In addition, Nick is a second year teacher at Thurgood Marshall Middle School for Pinellas County Schools. In his second year as an assistant, Coach Berry’s duties will include recruiting, on-the-floor coaching, scouting, and game-day preparation.

Nick is married to Kristina and they have one child, Nicholas age two.
