2007-2008 Coaching Staff

HEAD COACH
Jamie Madewell-Grodecki

Jamie Madewell begins her first season as head softball coach at St. Petersburg College. A native of Huntsville, Ala., she has spent the last 6 years coaching in the NCAA at the Division I and II Level. She comes to SPC from Southern Arkansas University, where she coached 11 all-conference players and two conference pitchers of the year in the Gulf South Conference.

In addition to success on the field, her athletes also excelled in the classroom, as nine of them became NFCA Scholar Athletes and 18 were named GSC All-Academic athletes. Madewell led her team to the conference tournament both seasons at SAU. Before becoming the head coach at Southern Arkansas University, Madewell spent two seasons as assistant coach at Delta State University working with the infield, hitting instruction, and strength and conditioning programs. Madewell helped guide Delta State to the 2005 Gulf South Conference West Division championship and tournament final.

Before her time on the Delta State staff, Madewell was an assistant at the University of Alabama-Birmingham from 2001 until 2003 working with the outfield and in-state recruiting. Madewell also was the head softball coach for USA Athletes International in a 3-week Paris/Belgium Tour in the summer of 2005.

Madewell received her B.B.A. from the University of Alabama-Huntsville, and her M.Ed. in physical education from the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

Madewell was a two-sport athlete at Alabama-Huntsville, competing in softball from 1995-2000 and volleyball from 1995-99. She was a member of three Gulf South Conference champion softball teams (1996, 1999, and 2000) with 4 regional appearances and 1 world series appearance in 1999.

Madewell is engaged to be married in May to Andrew Grodecki of Cresthills, IL.
