Florida Certification Renewal or Reinstatement Courses
The Florida Dept. of Education (FLDOE) requires educators to renew their license every five years. Six (6) semester hours of college credit or equivalent must be earned during each renewal period. See the DOE website for renewal/reinstate details and college credit equivalencies.
Course Options
SPC offers a variety of courses (online and on-campus) to assist teachers to satisfy DOE semester hour requirements for certification renewal or reinstatement. Teachers may take almost any type of college level credit course to meet state requisites.

To verify a course will meet FLDOE renewal requirements, contact the DOE via email or phone (800-445-6739).
To enroll in SPC courses:
| Step 1: | Complete the SPC Application online ($40 fee) and receive your student ID. When completing the application, apply as a "credit student". The program/student plan is DG-NO--Upper Division Non Degree, then choose Recertification—Non Degree. All Florida residency information/documentation must be input and the fee must be paid or your application may not be processed. |
| Step 2: | Scan/email (brown.jill@spcollege.edu) or fax (727-499-4913) a copy of your educator's certificate (or DOE number) and bachelor's transcript (official or unofficial transcript is acceptable). Transcripts are required due to college level reading, writing and math requisites. |
| Step 3: | Email your SPC student ID number to brown.jill@spcollege.edu for registration access. Students who complete all steps will be coded and emailed directions for enrollment. |
Students enrolled in renewal courses are classified as non-degree; however, courses are graded/for credit and will be reflected on an official SPC transcript.
