Teacher Certification Admission Requirements
EPI is a rigorous, one year program (3 semesters). EPI begins in May and ends the following May with an application deadline of April 1st. Classes are offered at night on three SPC campuses: St. Petersburg/Gibbs, Clearwater and Tarpon Springs. Total EPI program cost is approximately $3,500 for Florida residents and $12,000 for non-Florida residents (this which includes tuition, books and fees). Tuition fees are assessed per semester per credit hour.
- Application for Admission.
- Apply to the Florida Department of Education for Teacher Certification at http://www.fldoe.org/edcert/steps.asp. Once you complete the application, you will receive an Official Statement of Status of Eligibility. A copy of this Statement should be faxed to the IMPACT Office at 727-791-5949.
- Request 3 copies of your official transcripts (from all schools that you attended).

Send 2nd copy to: Department of Education, Bureau of Certification, 325 W. Gaines St., Tallahassee, FL 32303
*Save the 3rd copy for your personal records.
- Present passing scores on applicable portions of the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE)
Elementary Education (K-6) and Exceptional Student Education (K-12) applicants need to pass all four sections (Math, Reading, English Language Skills, and Essay) of the General Knowledge (GK) test (passing scores for the CLAST exam prior to July 1, 2002 may also be used).
Secondary Mathematics (6-12) and Secondary Biology (6-12) applicants need to pass all portions of the GK (or CLAST) AND the appropriate Subject Area Exam (SAE). For test information see http://www.cefe.usf.edu/. All test results should be faxed to the EPI Office at 727-791-5949.
Once all documents (as outlined in steps 1-4 above) are received by the EPI Office, an admissions decision will be made and the student notified.
