Online courses leading to Florida's Autism Endorsement

SPC has developed 3 sets of courses (12 credits total) designed to address the competencies and requirements for the Florida Department of Education's (FLDOE) *Autism Endorsement. All Autism courses are fully online.

*A Florida Exceptional Student Education (ESE) certificate is necessary to qualify for the endorsement.

Autism Courses: Terms Offered

1. EEX 4094 Nature and Diagnostic Assessment of Autism (3 credits) and Summer & Fall
EEX 4941 Nature of Autism Field Experience, 30 hour practicum (1 credit)

2. EEX 4291 Effective Learning Environments for Autism through Design, Assessment,
Behavior Management and PBS (3 credits) and
Fall & Spring
EEX 4942 Effective Learning Environments Field Experience, 30 hour practicum (1 credit)

3. EEX 4761 Communication Assessment, Strategies and Assistive & Instructional
Technology for Students with Autism (3 credits) and
Spring & Summer
EEX 4943 Communication Assessment Field Experience, 30 hour practicum (1 credit)

To enroll in Autism courses:

Step 1: Complete the SPC Application online ($40 fee) and receive your student ID. When completing the application, apply as a "credit student". The program/student plan is DG-NO--Upper Division Non Degree, then choose Autism—Non Degree. All Florida residency information/documentation must be input and the fee must be paid or your application may not be processed.
Step 2: Scan/email (brown.jill@spcollege.edu) or fax (727-499-4913) a copy of ESE teaching certificate or DOE Number; identify number of years teaching ASD and your current school/classroom for field experiences.
Step 3: Email your SPC student ID number to brown.jill@spcollege.edu for registration access. Students who complete all steps will be coded and emailed directions for ASD enrollment.

Students enrolled in autism courses are classified as non-degree; however, courses are graded/for credit and will be reflected on an official SPC transcript.

Tuition and Textbooks

Personnel Development Partnership (PDP) Grants available!

The FLDOE, Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services offer the PDP grant to provide ESE teachers tuition support towards the autism endorsement.
