Currently employed vocational-technical instructors (in areas such as automotive, health occupations, cosmetology or public service) are required by school districts to take four Career and Technical education courses to gain or maintain district certification. District certification must be completed within a three-year period.

Career/Technical Courses: Term Offered

2. ECT 4183 Curriculum Construction: Technical Education (3 credits) Fall
3. ECT 4562 Career and Technical Education for Students with Special Needs. (3 credits) Fall
4. ECT 4365 Basic Teaching Methods: Career and Technical Education (3 credits) Spring

To enroll in ECT courses:

Step 1: Complete the SPC Application online ($40 fee) and receive your student ID. When completing the application, apply as a "credit student". The program/student plan is DG-NO--Upper Division Non Degree, then choose Industrial/Technical—Non Degr. All Florida residency information/documentation must be input and the fee must be paid or your application may not be processed.
Step 2: Scan/email (brown.jill@spcollege.edu) or fax (727-499-4913) a copy of your vocational teaching certificate or an employment verification letter from the school district.
Step 3: Email your SPC student ID number to brown.jill@spcollege.edu for registration access. Students who complete all steps will be coded and emailed directions for ECT enrollment.

Students enrolled in ECT courses are classified as non-degree; however, courses are graded/for credit and will be reflected on an official SPC transcript.
